Hair Tips & Tricks

Have you ever wondered why your hair looks so brittle, is your hair color looking dull, & do you feel like your hair hasn’t grown?

I love educating my clients on what they can do at home to help get their hair looking & feeling its best. By simply switching up your hair routine it doesn’t have to cost a thing to start. I’m here to share a few tips & tricks of my own that have helped so many of my clients get strong, beautiful healthy hair.

Don’t over wash your hair…

Give your natural oils time to treat your hair, that’s the best way to get that healthy shine. Make sure to keep the shampoo on your roots & the conditioner/treatment only on your mid-length & ends. Wash no more than 2/3xs a week while treating your hair once a week depending on your styling preference. Water temperature needs to be warm/cool (comfortable on the skin). The cool water helps close the hair cuticle, locking in all the good nutrients from your conditioner/treatment.

Your hair is an investment…

Salon quality products are key to healthy hair & long-lasting color. A little goes a long way with their concentrated formulas so make sure you don’t over-use them. Find YOUR top 3/4 favorite products & rotate through them to revive your hair with something new. Pay attention to how your hair feels to make sure it’s the right product for you. Always ask if you’re unsure.

Products you need: shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioning treatment, leave-in conditioner. heat/thermal protectant. Other recommendations are unique to each client’s challenges.

Lower the heat on all styling tools…

Important things to look for in a styling tool is temperature control. Not “High/Med/Low”, rather actual temperatures or “1-25”. Not every client needs the hottest heat settings but the lowest temperature setting just won’t cut it for most. Lower the heat & find the right temperature for the results you’re looking for. Minimize blow-drying/heat styling to keep your hair from drying out too much.

Maintenance appointments are important …

Every client has their own preference on how often they see themselves in the salon. Color services can vary, but I always recommend no more than 8-12 weeks. Things to consider are: how often you’re chemically treating your hair, washing/rinsing, & how often are styling tools being used. It’s important to cut your hair frequently to promote growth. At home care & frequent haircuts is key for soft, manageable hair.
